We care - come to us!
In Bristol the Home Office’s Community Sponsorship Scheme has been welcomed and enthusiastically championed by our elected mayor, Marvin Rees, who sees it as integral to Bristol’s claim to be a ‘City of Sanctuary’. It is facilitated from within the Bristol City Council by Anne James and her colleagues Liz Legum and Khaled Abdulaziz.
The recently established Churches City Fund for Bristol, set up to encourage and support ‘unlocking the potential of the Church community to serve the City of Bristol via generosity of spirit’ contributed generously to our appeal for funds.*
So also did many other contributors including Bishop Declan Lang at Clifton Cathedral who said he considered our work on this scheme to be ‘very important’.
As indeed it is!
*For one of the ways that Clifton Cathedral is directly involved in serving the people of Bristol itself, see its 2019 Parish Project, the Bristol Street Pastors: streetpastors.org/locations/bristol/
